Dealing with your period at sleepovers
~Pack lots of pads and tampons, whatever you use.
Even though you probably won't need all that many, it's always good to pack more than you need.
~If your friend has already had her period, she'll probably have supplies, too, and she'll know how you feel, so if something is bothering you, you can tell her.
If she hasn't gotten hers yet, it might be more awkward, but depending on your friendship you might still confide in her.
~Clothing
Sometimes wearing tighter jeans (or a long shirt) can make you feel more secure, but wear what feels best for you. Take a sweater or jacket that you can tie around your waste if you have an accident or if it just makes you more comfortable. Bring some extra clothes. You might be able to borrow some from your friend(s) in case of an emergency, but it's good to have some of your own
~Just have fun!
If you have cramps, or think that you'll get them, bring some Midol or whatever you use, so that you are prepared. Don't think about it too much, just remember to shower before you go so you don't have a smell, and don't forget to change your pad or tampon.
~When changing your pad or tampon at a friends, if you are feeling embarrassed doing so, here are some tips to make it less awkward:
~Use a scissor to open the wrappers, to avoid weird ripping sounds when opening. Or Open your pads before you go then seal them with a little piece of tape.
~Ripping the pad out of your panties can be really loud too, so you can try changing it after you pee, when you flush. This works fine, unless your flow is heavy enough that you're going to bleed AFTER you flush.
~Don't flush your pads! They will clog the toilet, and that wouldn't be fun. Check you box of tampons to see if they are flushable, many are.
~To dispose of your tampons or pads, wrap them up in the wrapper from the new one you've put in, and if you want, some toilet paper as well, then put them in the trash. If you feel nervous putting them in someone else's garbage bin, bring a plastic bag with you and put them in it, then hide it with your stuff to dispose of when you get back home.
~Don't forget to Wash your Hands!!!
~When you leave the bathroom, take a quick look around to make sure there isn't any blood on the floor or toilet seat.
~A tip for you:
~Bring pads and or tampons with you when you are going to a friends and it is around your period just in case!
